1000 Careers and Counting …
In September 2008 we were delighted to welcome our 1,000th apprentice to GEN II, quite an achievement considering we started with only 71 apprentices 8 years ago.
At GEN II we understand the importance that high quality apprenticeship training has on our learners and their families. With many learners undertaking a 3½ year training programme before transferring to their employers, achieving their qualifications mean that their careers really do start with us. Thanks to our strong links with you, our stakeholders, more than 98%* of our learners who complete our apprenticeship programmes move straight from completing their apprenticeships to starting their careers with their employers.
As Jamie Reed, MP for Copeland said at our last awards ceremony “The GEN II apprentices contribute to the economic good of the area and the skills base of the UK, this enables the county and the country to achieve a competitive advantage over other regions – particularly in the field of nuclear expertise. Apprenticeships play a pivotal role in ensuring that we meet the changing needs of industry not only today, but in the short and long term future”.
Despite the current economic climate we are confident that by working together we can continue to provide the excellent careers opportunities for our local community, whilst providing the necessary future skills for business.
