Nuclear Related Technology - Foundation Degree Science and Process
Overview
The Nuclear Related Technology Foundation Degree in Science and Process has been designed to provide students with a thorough background in the science and process technologies found in the nuclear industry.
The course is a blend of academic and work based elements specifically designed to provide a local HE route into the Nuclear Industry and allow students to gain credit for real work activities.
During the first part of the course students will learn fundamental theory and enjoy learning from practical field and laboratory activity. There is also a work-based module which provides a structured approach to learning from the working environment. A similar work-based module exists in the second half of the course where the emphasis is on applying the fundamentals learnt throughout the course.
Progression routes from studying this degree include:
• Analytical Process Technicians
• Process Maintenance Support Technicians
• Nuclear Science Laboratory Technicians
• Analytical Nuclear Instrument Technicians.
Duration
The course is delivered part time over a 3 year period. The work based modules will be delivered mainly within the place of work supported by weekly timetables session at the GEN II Curriculum and Education Department.
