Mayor of Ukraine visits GEN II

The GEN II Carlisle Skills Centre welcomed Volodymyr Moskalenko the Mayor of Koresten last week as part of a 6 day tour arranged through the Chernobyl Children’s Lifeline Charity.

The mayor, who has been in office for 13 years, is interested to learn how the 14-19 Engineering Diploma is delivered. He explained “we used to have a lot of similar training centres but many have now disappeared, I want to try and bring this training back to the Ukraine. I am very impressed with the workshops you have.”   The 14-19 Diploma in Engineering is currently being delivered by GEN II in partnership with Carlisle College and Newman School for a range of Carlisle schools such as Newman Catholic School, Caldew School, Richard Rose Central and William Howard. The aim of the Engineering Diploma is to provide learners with the necessary skills for university or work and is described as “the first step towards an engineering career”.   The Mayoral visit will include numerous appointments including a Civic Reception, a tour of Children’s Services and tour of local schools.
